On a Mission to Raise the Value of Black America's Political Capital

Erin Giddens: President Obama’s Re-election Means Nothing for Black Community

We gave President Obama over 90 percent of our vote. The “black pride” factor should take a back seat to our issues. We should now look at how Obama is not addressing issues/concerns of the Black community.

About: “Erin Giddens is a journalist/blogger for HipHopRepublican.com and Elegance Speaks TV , she was born and raised in Southern California. She graduated in 2011 with her BA in Journalism (emphasis in broadcast) from California State University, Northridge. Since college she has pursued her dreams of becoming a sports reporter while working different jobs to support herself. However, Erin could not deny her passion for politics and saw her recent lay off from her full-time job as a dramatic answer to her question: “Lord, what do I need to eliminate so I can do your will?”

Erin recently has started a YouTube channel titled after her blog, Elegance Speaks, and is starting on a project that will be geared towards minority youth. Erin touches on various topics from politics to social and cultural concerns, specifically those that affect the black community. Erin wants to be informative and also wants to be a strong example of a young, black Christian conservative.”

The GOP has one Black member of congress...this is the year 2012 and to have just one Black person in congress tells you how the GOP feels about the Black community...

Here's a question for you...

What has the GOP done for the country is the ladst 13 years...???..stop up and stop whining about nothing...

meant to say ...What has the GOP done for the country in the last 13 years....shut up and stop whining about nothing

I hear your question and raise you one. Why is it that even with such high rate of lack Democrats in congress have black issues not gotten better?
Meant to say black Democrats.

That's an old trick that people use when they don't want to answer a question they ask question...So I'll try this again...

Jack, no trick, it's a question that has so many variable answers that it's not that easy to answer, not that you tried. Just like you question doesn't have a simple answer, you'd like to believe its because there are none running, but even when they run in black districts, even when they are moderates people like you start calling them names, and listening to your own rhetoric and never give them a chance, so they struggle to win. Even in races where they are the obvious better choice.

Come on Martin , you can do better than that..

What has the GOP done for the country in the last 13 years...??..You still didn't answer that..

And at some point you have to do a little soul searching if you are a Black republican and ask yourself why most minority groups do not support the GOP....You can sugarcoat this all you like but a party cannot claim diversity if after 60 years there is only one Black member of congress in their party and you can say that the Obama victory in 2008 in the reason there is one Black member of congress in the GOP...Let's say that you are running for congress in  a Black community...How do you address certain concerns about the racism in the GOP and the overall failure of the GOP in the last 13 years...??..How do you address the racist tea party , racist blowhards like Rush Limpballs , Glenn Beck , Sean Hannity , Ann Coulter , Jesse Peterson , Thomas Sowell..etc..Because those question will surely come up and if a Black republican defends these racist idiots then how in the world do you expect to get Black votes.???..How do you explain voter suppression to the Black community as a Black republican..???..Now when a Black republican can BE HONEST about the racism in the GOP..Bkacl people will listen...But if he or she comes off like Alan West , Mia Love or more at home Diana Jenkins with her all out attack on poor Black people , that person will not get any support from the Black community and for good reason...So maybe I need to ask this question again ...

The GOP has one Black member of congress...this is the year 2012 and to have just one Black person in congress tells you how the GOP feels about the Black community...

Also when was there an obvious better choice..??...just curious

Hey Erin, I watched your last YouTube video and had some comments for considerations. I agree with you on many points about the Republican Party not knowing how to win back the black vote but I see an opportunity for us to assist with this effort. Blacks for so many years stood by and let many "self appointed leaders" speak for them and their message was more programs and non-high skill jobs. This was a power move to ensure Blacks didn't need to understand politics are the world in which they lived. Just vote by name recognition and Democratic Party check blocks and all your prayers would be answered. This is the black vote the RNC is very much familiar with, not we represent as black voters. Build a new school in our communities and maybe add a Walgreen's and we're good until the next election. Well, Black Republicans typically don't fit this model nor wear the shoes of this image. The modern day RNC may believe that blacks already get what they seek, more programs and the only voice of reasons were our "self appointed leaders". When I communicate to my lawmakers (both Republicans and Democrats), I identify myself and we engage in dialog. I do this so often that I actually hear them discussing discussion points we've had with fellow law makers and many issues important to me get worked out successfully. I always vote in the presidential elections but the true power of this country is the House and Senate. You need to call them so much that you are on a first name basis and they recognize your phone number.
