Long-Term Unemployment Measured Up to 5-Years Now???

Just read over the USA Today site that the US plans to start measuring unemployment up to 5-years instead of 2-years now? 

 

Is the Obama administration going somewhere with this?

Interesting point??? I wonder what the real situation is for these 99ers. Most of my friends and family found a job within 50-weeks. There could be abuse or a lack of skill sets I guess, however, the abusers usually set precedence for everyone else.

Hi Connie...this perspective is very enlighting. I agree and see how our nature is to get highly dependent. But I get highly discouraged with these schemes that purposely disenfranchise for political gain. It's one thing to unconsciously enable someone while trying to help...but to be so power hungry to offer a carrot to lead in the direction of your benefit is something else. I would like to hear from some sound minded Americans on what they really want. Is it gainful employment with or without benefits...or an unemployment check with some kind of expectation?

Its again interesting you say how churches and other community based organizations should lead the efforts to help people when in need.  My mom and her elderly friends, (who are die-hard Democrats), started complaining how all the community services where cut when Obama went into office as well as their social security benefits.  They kinda went blank when I explained how the Bush administration supported "Faith Based" initiatives that funded many of the churches and local mission groups that gave out groceries and other services.  Yes, interesting indeed :-)

Of course they don't blame President Obama. They think some unnamed person is doing it of which I'm sure the new majority republican house Will ultimately get the blame. No, I can't really explain it :-(
