Black Republicans

On a Mission to Raise the Value of Black America's Political Capital

I think it is time to build our party.  I have spoken to a lot of young men and women about the Republican Party and most of them think we (The GOP) is a big JOKE. They also felt that we don't care about Black people because  nothing was ever said about Tryvon Martin, etc. One young Lady even brought up the Terri Shibow (sp) case that even had the President of the United States helping decide if she lives or dies.  Was it because she was white?

I know their thinking is wrong but the party does not show nor do we speak out about things when it comes to our Community or Black folks. . We need to start now setting goals for our Party, and reaching out to those groups of people who feel we have lost touch with them. . Train young people how to run for office, how to build businesses, the value of an education and understanding the party as a whole.  One young lady said to me that the GOP only care about RICH folks not the people in the middle. They were very upset to think that Herman Cain was the best the GOP had to offer the country to representing US.  The  thinking from these High School young men and women were that he was a embarrassment to most Black-African-Americans and he was some one that whites laughed at. He made all of us look like fools.

I asked these young men and women to take a long look at the GOP and what we stand for. Take a look at the history of the Party and see where we came from.  One question was asked that I could not answer was, where are we going? It took me a while to give him an answer. Then I knew it is time we held our own convention and set our own agenda for Black Republicans.

It's time, If we are to move our party forward it is time. I told the group as I was leaving that the only way to become successful in life is "you must first learn to move yourself out of your own way."

It is time for a National Convention for the Black Republican Party.

Perry,

One other thing.  We need to dispense with the term "African American".  We are either Black American or simply American.  I have a theory if you will indulge me.

Like Moses in the wilderness, if you separate a person from his culture for two generations [40 years, or so], that person and his progeny will no longer resemble the original culture.  In fact they will become a unique culture in and of themselves.  Therefore, imagine how far removed a person will become is that are 20 to 25 generations removed.  Black America is at least 20 generations removed from Africa.

Theory: there are now only two real indigenous races in America.  The American Indian and Black Americans.  We were forcibly divested from our African culture, sciences, arts, faith systems, and Mother Africa.  In fact virtually every African culture has formed a variation of "White Blackman" for the Black American.

I say this because we need to Repatriate our culture to America.

Just a thought,

Perry,

Okay.  When and where?  Lets pick a time and place.  I say Pasadena, California before the June Primary.  We need to do it before the state conventions that will occur near the end of summer and before the election.  We should demand media attention and party participation.  Perry, this forum is perfect to set an agenda because it is small and manageable.

You layed out some basic areas that we need to address.  Education, economics, career and life opportunities, and quality of life issues [Black-on-Black Crime, etc.].  We have some basic needs so let's hold this forum's feet to the fire to move.  All we need is money and leadership participation.

Let find out the best way to contact and engage this forum's leadership.

Your Brother in Battle,

The GOP convention is almost upon us and have we as Black African Americans are asked to come to the BBQ? It is time that we send a clear message to the GOP Board of Directors and TELL them that we need to have a meeting of the minds. We need to meet with the front runner and give our agenda to the PARTY. I am tried of sitting back and watching the same old white men tell our Party what to do and how to do it. It is time, that we as one group and one voice speak out and give a clear plan that will be inclusive and not exclusive of us.  It is time that we stop back biting others in our party and start looking for those of us who want to bring about a difference. When I was growing up in the 60's there was a TV show called Julia. It was about a Black single mother raising her son on her one income that of a nurse. The one thing that I got from that show was if you had closed your eyes and listen to the show was that you could not tell if the star of the show was white or black.  Our concerns were not a part of the show.   I have listen to others that are running for office and if you close your eyes where is the economic values for our communities, Where are the educational Values for our communities? Where are the "DO FOR SELF" values for our communities>

We spend so much talk on being a Reagan Republican that we lost sight of what the Party really stand for.  We want so badly to be the Black that everybody likes that we have lost the most important value of all...............true to thy self.

I look at this page and ask what does the name mean...............Republican for Black Empowerment what does that meaning? What is the plan? How do we set goals to reach empowerment?  Who holds the key to the door?

I would like to ask this group one thing....why don't we ask for a meeting with the front runner of the GOP and l;ay out our plan for inclusions.

It is time. that we have our own convention for Black-African-American Republican Party. Think about it if we had our own convention where we ask those Black folks to come and join us for our BBQ to let the Republican Party that we will not be pushed to the back of the line nor will we sit by the door any longer. We want a seat at the table. so we may share our BBQ dinner with others.

In the words of that song "Wake up every body no more sleeping in bed.".

It is time.

Nice discussion guys. I'm still firm that "reaching out to the black community" in itself is a scam and sets the wrong tone. Who "reaches out to white people"? We are all Americans, we are all equal, we all have the same opportunities for growth and expansion, so again the agenda should be an American Agenda not a black, white, yellow, red, purple one.

Democrats don't "reach out" to African Americans either, Democrats just push liberal policies and African Americans reach out to DEMOCRATS to make sure those liberals get elected. It's the values, beliefs and lack of conservative voting behaviors on behalf of African Americans that make the Democrats the "party black people vote for 90%" of the time.

If African Americans changed their beliefs from a liberal one to a conservative one, they would reach out to Republicans running for office that support their values and make sure they are elected, just like WHITE PEOPLE do and other races.

This is an internal issue, an internal value system problem. Liberals have assisted to create this problem and keep it set in the soil, but we need to sit down with each other and have a conversation on what's the best path going forward for the black community. I'm thinking that if any reasonably minded person just LOOKED at the data, they can see that the increased spending hasn't solved the problems. I'm not saying CUT spending per say, what I'm saying is that what we value and prioritize needs to be changed and we can make use of the resources already available.

John and Thomas,

I agree that what we need is within us, as a culture, and no we do not have to bow at the alter of any party.  We need to set our own agenda and begin our march.  I prefer to work from within the existing structures and I understand those that would rather work outside the current party's.  Either way, we all agree that we need our own, self-serving, goals and objectives.

Economic Centers and Empowerment Zones seems like a great start.

Do you ever think that the racism in the GOP has "anything" to do with the fact that Black people don't vote for republicans. The GOP is actually "reaching out" to the Black community...It's called voter supression..You really need to wake up...

Grant you are (as we use to say ) RIGHT ON.  You know the first thing I would like to do is address the barriers as i see them;

PRIMARY BARRIERS

  1. Welfare recipients
  2. Offenders in Adjudicated Individuals
  3. Single Parent(s)
  4. Economically Disadvantaged
  5. High School Drop-outs
  6. Homeless
  7. Handicapped
  8. Drug and Alcohol Addiction

SECONDARY BARRIERS

  1. Transportation
  2. Reading Level below 7th grade
  3. Health Problems
  4. Lack of family support
  5. Lack of significant/positive work history
  6. Child Care
  7. Experiencing personal problems
  8. Lack of vocational skills
  9. Lacks appropriate clothing or tools
  10. Lacks Diploma/GED
  11. Unstable living arrangements

If we really want to set and agenda and look to other to join in our struggle lets start with the basic.   I would love to see those who use this form that are running for office locally and nationally to join in and give their views on why they are running and what they see as Life issues.  I too feel throwing money at a problem is not the solution.  Most of the programs that are out there now have no accountability.  They are teaching our people to become dependent on the system.   The system is the pimp in our communities. We are training our young people to look for something for nothing. I get so tried of excuses of why we can't do this or why we can't do that or better yet "MAST-SA DON'T WANT US THINKING LIKE THAT"  IT IS TIME THAT WE PUT THAT OLD NEGRO TO REST. Once more this form is called

REPUBLICANS FOR BLACK EMPOWERMENT........................ Once more I am asking what is the plan?

IT IS TIME

Perry,

This is a great start.  I copied this Barrier List and will be saving them for the future.  We need to expand on each of the concepts by applying meat to those bones.  For example, Welfare Assistance and Economic Disadvantages could be addressed together.  We could demand tax breaks and incentives for industries that commit training and jobs to persons in disadvantaged community, for residents in those communities; giving priority to those persons that have been [or are] on the welfare rolls.  A man that feeds himself is always more satisfied with his meal if he paid for it with his own money.

An agenda is materializing.

Black Conservatives Need To Address This....

The Constitutional Conservatives, a right-wing Republican organization based in Greene County, Virginia, published some incendiary rhetoric in its White House Watchdog column as part of the organization's March newsletter. Editor Ponch McPhee pens two articles in the newsletter, one by name, titled "Returning the Republic to the People," in which he emboldens readers with what appears to be quotes from Thomas Jefferson and James Madison mixed with his own declarations claiming that "terror is upon the land and tyranny is grasped within its left hand."

In the other, he advises readers to prepare to defend their liberty with directives that seem to suggest he is eager to react to the outcome of November's election with an armed rebellion, and he encourages his followers to do the same. Excerpts from his column are below:

We have before us a challenge to remove an ideologue unlike any-thing world history has ever witnessed or recognized.

An individual who has come to power within a Nation which yields it's strength over the entire world.

An elected leader who shuns biblical praise, handicaps economic ability, disrespects the honor of earned military might.

In the coming days and weeks ~ we the people must come to grasp as a common force, our very soul's, that our future as a sovereign nation is indeed at risk.

If every single individual that you know, would contact 25 other individuals ~ we can make a difference that will be heard across the Commonwealth and in Washington.

The ultimate task for the people is to remain vigilant and aware ~ that the government, their government is out of control, and this moment, this opportunity, must not be forsaken, must not escape us, for we shall not have any coarse but armed revolution should we fail with the power of the vote in November ~ This Republic cannot survive for 4 more years under-Neath this political socialist ideologue.

The newsletter also includes a timeline of what the organization calls President Obama's 25 "most Biblically hostile" moments. The newsletter claims that the president "studiously avoids making religious references in his Thanksgiving speech," in 2011 and in 2010 and argue Obama "begins deliberately omitting the phrase "the Creator" when quoting the Declaration of Independence."
