On a Mission to Raise the Value of Black America's Political Capital

Check out Ken Blackwell's article on the healthcare bill. He brings up a good point with respect to the young fold forced into this plan who will be basically paying for everyone else. Hmmmm sounds like social security, medicare, etc.... When will people learn that these socilist schemes never work?

Good point Melanie! Thanks for sharing.
It's not likely that they will learn until there is a greater effort to educate them on the issues and how they are affected by those issues. The link between poverty and politics has never been more evident to me than in the 2008 presidential election. Unfortunately it is still largely ignored.

When there is a greater emphasis on pulling others out of poverty, (literal, educational, emotional, spiritual or otherwise) there will be a greater likelyhood that there will be a more "rational" response to the promise of a handout from the government.

When poor people are shown that there is no freedom to be found when you are chained to the counter at the welfare office, there will be changes in every aspect of American society, including the politics that now directs them to elect those who currently and consistently benefit from their ignorance.
