First, Merry Christmas and God bless all of you.

Gaye I sent you an email earlier and if your joining this group is in response to that I am impressed by the speed and sincerity of your actions. The problem with outreach from the Republican party into the black community is: education(you need to see the world through black eyes), fear(stop being afraid to identify BS), NAACP(never feel you need to go through  them to talk to black Americans), Segregation(stop using segregationist language..."black republican"-"black Americans" black this or black that). I am not chastising you but if you look at your statement/question you want to find out why blacks join the Republican party. Simple we join the party because we believe what you believe.

When I say you need to see the world through black eyes you need to take a look at the systematic dumbing down and pacification of the black community by the democrat party and their handlers(the Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons of the world). Ask yourself questions like why is it insistent that "black leaders" represent the black community but no other race has such a requirement. If you have not already read Uncle Tom's Cabin and understand that Uncle Tom is the hero who gave his life for fellow slaves while Sambo and Quimbo assisted in killing him for their master Legree. Realize the metaphor and apply it to today's politics. Legree is the democrat party, Sambo and Quimbo are the Sharptons, Farakhans and NAACP. Uncle Tom represents the Republicans of color who want more for their communities but are constantly berated by them.

When I referenced fear I want you to know that truth knows no chains. Look into the black community and everything you see that ails it place it in the white community, would you speak against the degradation of the white family unit, the degradation of young girls and women who are used as objects. What about drug dealers, welfare queens, rampant teen births, etc.... If you would speak out about it in your neighborhood then you, as an American, have every right to speak out about it in any neighborhood. Sincerity is a must.

NAACP is to be avoided at all costs, you do not have to go through them for jack to assist the black community.

Segregationist language- Democrats are racist plain and simple that is why they always put black in front of something. I know I am an American of African descent I clearly see it and am proud but the distinguisher "black" is not needed.

Last, for now, is go where your enemy isn't, the black churches. Democrats only go to black church when they need to secure a vote after that they are AWOL until the next election cycle.

I am looking forward to talking with you

Ernest

Gaye, one of the biggest problem with Republicans today is that they have almost no intimate knowledge of minorities, especially blacks.  Unlike the Bush family, most of them have no relationships with black folk.  They have no black friends, no black associates and know virtually nothing about being black, except what they see in the media and that's usually about poor and ghetto blacks.

For years, many of us have tried to get the local and state parties to hire black political consultants to run campaigns - to no avail.  Many black Republicans have walked away from the Party, because they got tired of being ignored - especially those who wanted to run for political office.

Here in Florida, Jeb Bush had black relationships and the Party grew to over 62,000 of us.  After he left the Governor's mansion and Charlie Crist came in, masquerading as a Republican, and pandered to black Democrats.  The numbers of black Republicans began to dwindle and after Obama became the darling of the Democrats, the numbers dropped to under 50,000.

So if you want to make inroads into the black community, you need to get a black Republican to serve on the REC with you.  And do outreach on a regular basis.  Hold functions for black college students and professional organizations.  Teach them what being a Republican means.

Being black and Republican puts blacks in a very tenuous position with family, friends and the community.  They are subject to vile, mean and vicious words and actions.  So if the Party wants to make inroads then it needs to be willing to support and defend those black Republicans who put their lives and careers on the line for their values.  And if the Party continues to ignore this fact, then young blacks will not be willing to join.

Finally, if you want to get Allen West, contact his Florida district office.

God bless.
