Merry Christmas Jennifer! It is nice being connected with RBE and checking in from time to time. I am a mom of a kiddo with autism and am not on the internet very often, but still is nice to be involved even if just a little bit. I'd really like to see eastern Washington remain a republican stronghold. As our wine industry grows, Gov. Gregoire courts us pretty heavily over here--but does not follow thru with policy that is good for us. Unfortunately the "courtship" and rhetoric are making a dent. The Tri-Cities is the fourth largest populated area in the state, has the lowest cost of living, and is continuing to grow by leaps and bounds. We have the largest # of PhD.'s per capita of anywhere in the US, schools are good, science, wine, light industry, technology, agriculture, and lots of room to expand. My mother-in-law (a staunch republican) recently "infiltrated" the local democratic party (even became a delegate for the presidential election) and tells us that they are rabbidly passionate but disorganized and a total mess. I feel that that local republicans are operating the way they have for the past 50 years and that's not going to do the job. If we can keep the Tri-Cities conservative even as we grow, we have a chance of making a major difference in things to come. Well, that's why I joined RBE. But, again, I do a program at home for my son, who is 11 yrs. old, and I am on that pretty much 24/7. My husband is a research scientist who travels a lot. When he is in town, I have more discretionary time. Well, I'm digressing... Thanks for running the Washington State group. And again, Merry Christmas!!
