SCREEN ME!: I'M A MUSLIM AGAINST TERRORISM!

As  a Black man I've come to accept that the super-violence of some Black boys and men subjects many Black boys and men to inordinate police scrutiny. It's nothing I jump for joy over but my opposition to violent crime and murder places saving lives before feeling insulted.

This isn't acceptance of second class citizenship but an expression of first class citizenship which places public safety ahead of personal discomfort.

As a Muslim I've come to accept that the super-violence of some Muslims subjects many  Muslims to inordinate homeland security scrutiny. It's nothing I jump for joy over but my opposition to Islamist violence and mass murder places saving lives before feeling insulted.

This isn't acceptance of third class citizenship but an expression of first class citizenship which places national security ahead of personal discomfort.

Citizens must decide where they stand when difficult times provoke difficult directives to protect public safety and national security. Since I don't support chocolate klansmen nor Muslim mayhem my choice is clear: do my civic duty and advocate until such heightened intrusion is no longer necessary.

Hats off to, chronologically, the Transportation Security Administration ( TSA; which in the past I've called, " the Terrible Security Administration " ) and the New York Police Department for stepping up to the plate and tackling very touchy public safety and homeland security issues.

Their work hasn't always been without incident but their goal, saving lives, is ultimately my paramount concern. As a civil libertarian I always feel a pang when innocent Americans are treated like criminals and strive to make such incidents history.

While legitimate and phony complaints abound I remain a supporter of public safety and national security. I do my part to ensure the smooth operation of both should relevant agencies cross my path. My only request is that I'm assessed according to my individual merit- not negative group stereotype.

Since I like creating mottoes my latest for supporting homeland security; especially in the form of airport screeners is, " Screen me! I'm a Muslim against terrorism! "

What more can a concerned American say?
